Multi-Component, Media-Based Behavioral Intervention
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
As a subcontractor, MANILA provides project management, training, and assistance
in technical issues for a study that focuses on reduction of high-risk
behaviors among urban African American youth. The project is designed to
use entertainment-education serialized dramas that can influence young
people and empower them to make healthy choices for themselves, their partner,
and their communities. This project facilitates the implementation of a
methodology that addresses behavioral responses to reproductive health
needs, such as HIV/AIDS avoidance, drug abuse, and prevention of unintended
pregnancy. In support of this project, MANILA also manages meetings of
focus groups of these youth in 24 cities across the United States.
